PM Update: Stray showers, slow clearing tonight. Tranquil, semi-sunny Sunday.

Rain chances are decreasing with time and only one or two stray showers — very light and brief raindrops — seem possible into sunrise tomorrow. Cloud levels oscillate tomorrow but it’s fairly bright, overall.

Through Tonight: Skies are a mix of clouds and stars. Some fog and even patchy drizzle is possible but even if we see a couple of stray showers, they look light and brief into sunrise. Breezes slacken from the north and west overnight, easily staying under 10 mph. Low temperatures bottom out around 40 to mid-40s.

Tomorrow (Sunday): After any early fog and drizzle exit, we have a mix of sun with clouds — perhaps cloudiest midday into midafternoon. Any organized, disruptive rainfall should stay away. High temperatures aim for the low-to-mid-60s. Perhaps a couple of afternoon gusts from the south around 10 mph but that’s it. Overnight, clouds slowly increase with dry conditions likely to continue other than a couple of stray raindrops. Low temperatures bottom out within a few degrees of 45.

Brief pollen respite but increase possible tomorrow

Rain that we had into today may give your allergy symptoms some response. However, with sunnier and warmer conditions tomorrow, we may see an increased pollen level. March typically has higher pollen counts than February, and the data is bearing out that uptick:

Here’s an update, like last Saturday, on specific tree species in the pollen profile. Some trees may prove an outsize nuisance for you, compared with others.

For the larger dashboard, here’s the thorough rundown from the Allergen Extract Laboratory. Among the useful information is expected symptoms based on the percentile of tree pollen in which we currently find ourselves.

CWG’s Ian Livingston has been monitoring pollen as well and notes “we have to start keeping pollen in greater mind.” Though he argues some sun and warmth Sunday is “a decent trade-off for the time being” with merely moderate tree pollen levels — hopefully.
